I hope your holidays were joyous and refreshing. Today, I sent a video to district staff emphasizing the four areas of our Strategic Plan.
- Academic Achievement: To equitably address the academic learning of students in all demographic categories to improve the graduation rate from 84.7% to 95%.
- Social and Emotional Learning: To equitably address the social and emotional needs of students.
- Parent Engagement: To create opportunities to enhance family and community engagement in an equitable manner that allows for participation by all.
- Retention and Hiring: To recruit and support high-quality staff who reflect our community.
Our strategic plan serves as a compass to guide our district to new heights so that students have a great educational experience. As Superintendent, I am proud of and want to continue our efforts to create vibrant centers of learning, where caring adults engage students in rigorous experiences so that all children excel.
I want to say congratulations to our National Award-Winning FFA & ROTC programs, you do us proud. Additionally, I’d like to thank Pat Jacobs and Jan Gustafson for their many years of invaluable service, though they will be missed, I know we all wish them the best in their retirement. And, as January is School Board Recognition Month, I am glad to embrace this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to our Board of Education, they have responded to many challenging issues this year, and yet come together to make some tough, but what I think are the right decisions, to set our district up for success for many years to come. These final months are going to be incredibly busy and important, please remain focused and dedicated, whatever your role, and help our students get the best experience they can as we continue to #thrivein475. Together, we will continue to build a stronger Geary County community focused on academic excellence for all.
